Foot Anstey Solicitor wins President's Award for Islamic finance exam

Leena Payyappilly, Associate in Foot Anstey's Islamic Finance team has been awarded the President's Award in recognition of her outstanding result in the Islamic Finance Qualification (IFQ) level 3 certificate exam.

Earlier this year, members of Foot Anstey's Islamic Finance team, Nick Loewendahl, Karl Bradford, Laura Autiero, Leena Payyappilly, Emily Hendy and Aziz Deen all passed the IFQ exam.

The IFQ is a level 3 certificate issued by the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI) and is recognised as the standard qualification for Islamic Finance practitioners in the Legal, Banking and Accountancy professions.

Leena has been awarded the prestigious President’s Award for the IFQ and has been invited to receive her certificate at the CISI Bristol & Bath Branch annual dinner next month..

Commenting on her win, Leena said: "I'm delighted to have been awarded this accolade and look forward to receiving my certificate next month at the annual dinner. I'm thankful for Foot Anstey's support which has enabled my colleagues and I the opportunity to obtain the IFQ qualification and bolster our skills".

To facilitate the studying for the exam, a 2-day revision course was held at Foot Anstey's Bristol office at the end of February 2022 delivered by Faizal Karbani of Simply Ethical.  All six team members  passed the exam and are now holders of the IFQ, bringing a total of 13 team members to hold the qualification.
