Our vacation schemes are a fantastic way to come and experience life at Foot Anstey for yourself, and see the work, the career and the life you could have here. During your vacation scheme, you will get the opportunity to work on live cases to understand the work you would be doing as a trainee. At the end of the week you will join an assessment centre and, if successful, you will be offered a training contract. Plus, we cover the costs of your travel and accommodation and pay you for your week of hard work, to ensure you have a stress-free experience!

Aspire is our vacation scheme that allows you to apply for our training contract whilst learning about the firm and gaining additional work experience. You will spend time during that week working with our Trainees, Associates and Partners on live cases and learning more about the role of a Trainee Solicitor. You’ll also experience our culture and find out more about our sector approach. The week ends with a training contract assessment centre and those successful will be offered a place on our trainee programme.
Achieve is our vacation scheme specifically designed for individuals from under-represented groups within the UK. You will get the opportunity to gain legal work experience and work with our trainees, associates and Partners on live cases. In addition to the vacation scheme, you will be invited to attend a series of masterclass sessions which aim to give you an insight into areas such as Corporate and Finance, as well as developing your practical legal skills. At the end of the vacation scheme week, there will be a training contract assessment centre and those successful will be offered a training contract.
On Tuesday 28 November 2023, we are holding an Insight Day for students and graduates interested in our Training Contracts and Vacation Schemes. It’s a day packed full of useful content – you’ll hear from Partners describing the work we are doing across different sectors, from Trainees talking about their experience, and from our Early Careers team on what it takes to succeed here. Applications for our insight day will be open from early October.
The process for applying for a Vacation Scheme is the same as for a Training Contract – because if you excel during our Vacation Scheme, there’s every chance of you being offered a Training Contract. There are three key stages to our application process: an online application, followed by an online assessment based around future potential. If you’re successful at these first stages, you’ll be invited to be part of the vacation scheme in Bristol which includes a training contract assessment centre at the end of the week.

Applications open from Monday 4 September and close midday on Tuesday 2 January for our Vacation Scheme and midday on Wednesday 31 January for our Training Contract. Please make sure you don’t leave your application to the last minute. Take your time and make the best possible application you can.

Yes! We help you with the cost of travel and accommodation and you get paid for your week’s hard work.
There are three parts to our process – the online application, online assessment and then the vacation scheme with assessment centre. Read more about them above.
Yes. We take mitigating circumstances into consideration when reviewing applications. There is space on the application form for you to let us know what your mitigating circumstances relate to.
Yes. If people are close to the educational requirements we consider these as a whole with your application. In addition, we ask you to detail your grades so we can use our contextualised recruitment platform to contextualise your grades in comparison to your peer group.
Yes. For our internal applicants, we have our Internal Aspire programme. This provides the opportunity for internal applicants to join a vacation scheme and assessment centre for a training contract.
