Taking the first steps as an apprentice
Ciaran sits in our Marketing and Business Development team, working on a range of different projects. He has always had an interest in marketing and had spent some time marketing his own business. Joining Foot Anstey as an apprentice was a chance to test his skills in a professional environment.
I applied for the role at Foot Anstey due to the diversity of the role – I can work across multiple disciplines meaning that I am getting valuable experience in lots of different areas allowing me to find out where I excel most and what I most enjoy.
Ian is our Head of Energy & Infrastructure Sector. After a number of years working for national and international firms, most recently Pinsent Masons, he saw the opportunity to do interesting work and explore different possibilities – with more control over his future.
What really appealed to me about Foot Anstey was the opportunity to work at a firm where I could do great quality work, with hugely talented people and with an ethos where I would have a strong voice and a real say in the direction of the firm and of the energy and infrastructure practice.
Vikki started life at Foot Anstey as a Trainee and is now a Senior Associate in our Commercial Litigation team. She works on general commercial and corporate disputes, but also has a focus on media related litigation.
I get to drive cases and strategies forward with as much support as needed, from both supervisors and other members of the team assisting with matters. I also really love that I am able to work with lots of different members of my team as well as collaborating with others across the firm.
Meet Amy: taking the leap from college into a corporate law firm.
After studying English, History and Politics, Amy realised law was the perfect fit, a mix of all the subjects she enjoyed. She chose the apprenticeship route, knowing it would suit her learning style better: gaining hands‑on experience, building confidence in a real legal environment, and earning while she worked. She even moved from Bournemouth to Bristol to make it happen.
Watch her story to find out what inspired her, how she has found the journey so far, and how apprenticeships can open doors at the very start your career.
