Retail Trust Leaders' Summit

We are delighted to have partnered on the Leaders’ Summit with the Retail Trust, a charity that cares for and protects the lives of people working in retail.

Date & Time Friday, 14 October 2022

Location Pan Pacific, London, EC3A 7AB

Foot Anstey have partnered on the Leaders’ Summit with the Retail Trust, the charity that cares for and protects the lives of people working in retail. In all, from the 200,000 people that required their help last year, they provided financial aid to the tune of £500k and delivered 10,000 counselling sessions. This need for help serves as a reminder of the incredible pressures those who work in retail have faced in the last year.

The event will bring together mental health trailblazers, industry changemakers and forward-thinking retail leaders for a one-day programme of fresh, thought-provoking content that challenges the typical approach to wellbeing strategy. Covering key issues critical to the future success of retail, uncover trends that aren’t (yet) on the radar and create an open environment for discussion and idea sharing.

Event sessions will include:

  • Your staff are your superpower, why retail should adopt a progressive business-leading approach to wellbeing.
  • How do we solve the recruitment and retention problem and get everyone from Gen-Z to Gen-X to fall back in love with retail?
  • How employers can be the most important step to getting out of an abusive relationship.
  • Solving the intolerance epidemic: the customer isn’t always right.
  • Getting rid of the myth of the flawless leader, and why mental health should be considered a corporate risk.

Patrick Howarth, Partner in our Employment and Retail & Consumer teams, will join the panel discussion: "Solving the intolerance epidemic: The customer isn’t always right" alongside the CEO of the British Retail Consortium, the Head of Wellbeing Services of the Retail Trust and the UK Senior Retail Operations Manager of BP plc. The session will explore how to best protect colleagues when faced with abuse. Our research in 2019 and 2021 revealed that nearly two-thirds of shopworkers have experienced offensive behaviour at work. We also collaborated with the Retail Trust on our Retailers Against Harassment Certification, which launched earlier this year, so we will be able to bring the discussion around harassment in retail, share our findings and helpful insights to attendees at the Leaders' Summit. Please join us as we discuss the issue in more detail.

This event is ideal for retail chief people officers, HR directors and their teams.

Please get in touch with Nathan Peacey or Patrick Howarth, details below, if you have any questions about the event or wish to arrange to meet during the event.
