Foot Anstey advises on sale of Quanterra to Vaisala, strengthening global climate measurement capability

National law firm Foot Anstey LLP has advised the shareholders of Quanterra, a specialist in atmospheric monitoring of CO2 fluxes, on its sale to Vaisala – the world's leading measurement technology company.

The acquisition represents a significant step in Vaisala’s expansion in the greenhouse gas measurement sector and the launch of its new climate business.

Quanterra provides site-specific atmospheric carbon monitoring solutions for nature-based industries, including agri-food and biofuels, as well as public and private research organisations.

This real-time, long-term data monitoring enables customers to verify the effectiveness of their low-carbon products and programmes, and supports the generation of high-quality carbon credits – unlocking new revenue streams for agricultural operators and other nature-based asset managers.

The Foot Anstey deal team, led by Partner, Duncan Sykes and Principal Director, Dominic Cromwell and supported by Emma Robinson (Senior Associate), Beth Donnelly (Senior Associate), Megan Bingley (Associate) and Kirsty Poulton (Associate – Tax), advised the shareholders of Quanterra on all aspects of their sale.

Dominic Cromwell commented: "We are pleased to have advised Quanterra on their sale to Vaisala. Quanterra’s innovative technology and services are at the forefront of addressing climate change, and we are proud to have supported the shareholders through this important transaction and look forward to seeing the business accelerate following the transaction.”

Rebecca Mitchell, the CEO of Quanterra said: "Vaisala’s sensors have been a key part of Quanterra’s solution from the very start, and we are well aligned for the future. With Vaisala's experience and muscles, we will be able to scale the business faster than would have been possible by ourselves. Foot Anstey provided guidance throughout the sale and were the perfect partner to us for this transaction, this sale is an exciting step for Quanterra and we are thankful to Dominic and the team for their support."
