Foot Anstey advises British Solar Renewables on acquisition of Little Crow Solar Park from INRG solar

Firm uses its deep energy sector expertise to support BSR on landmark acquisition - it's largest to date. The deal supports BSR's ambition to deliver 700MW of renewable energy capacity by 2027 and contribute to the UK’s 2030 clean energy targets.

National law firm Foot Anstey has advised British Solar Renewables (BSR) on its acquisition of Little Crow, a solar and storage project located in Lincolnshire, from INRG Solar.

Little Crow is a 150MWp photovoltaic (PV) project co-located with a 60MW battery energy storage system (BESS). With this acquisition, Little Crow becomes the largest site in BSR's ownership.

Foot Anstey’s Energy and Infrastructure sector team advised BSR, led by Partner Kutahya Cherry, alongside Associate Jonathan Dant-Smith, who advised on all property aspects of the transaction, and Managing Associate Aliki Zeri, who advised on the commercial and grid elements.

As BSR’s principal legal adviser, Foot Anstey played a central role in the deal, advising across every stage of the project lifecycle.

In addition to this acquisition, Foot Anstey has worked with the business across a wide range of workstreams, including real estate, regulatory, planning, construction, health and safety, banking, and corporate advisory, as well as providing cross-border support on EPC matters in Australia and across EU jurisdictions.

The Little Crow acquisition is part of BSR’s ambition to construct and operate 700MW of renewable energy capacity by 2027 – enough to power 144,775 homes each year. Solar is a key part of the UK government’s renewable energy strategy, and the acquisition of Little Crow will help drive the UK’s 2030 clean energy targets.

JLL’s Energy and Infrastructure Advisory team acted as the exclusive sell-side advisor. BSR will build and operate the project, strengthening its position as an independent power producer as part of its growing portfolio.

Commenting on the deal, Kutahya said: "This transaction marks a milestone moment for BSR, and we are thrilled to be a part of it. The acquisition of Little Crow is not only BSR’s largest site to date but also a major step forward in its strategic pivot toward owning and operating assets. This shift reflects the growing momentum behind subsidy-free solar and co-located renewable energy solutions in the UK."

Richard Hawkridge, Head of Legal at BSR, said: "The acquisition of Little Crow is a key step in delivering our long-term renewable energy goals. We are grateful for the Foot Anstey team's deep sector knowledge and ongoing support. We look forward to continuing our work with the team as we deliver on our pipeline of renewable projects."
