Aziz Deen appointed as Secretariat of All-Party Parliamentary Group for Islamic and Ethical Finance
Aziz Deen, Senior Associate in Foot Anstey's Islamic Finance sector, has been appointed as Secretariat of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Islamic and Ethical Finance.
His appointment, which forms part of his role as an ambassador for the Riba Free Foundation, aims to give the Islamic finance industry a voice in parliament.
The APPG plays a crucial role in addressing issues pertaining to regulation, legislation and taxation, while positioning the UK as the European hub of Islamic financial services and promoting ethical finance.
The current APPG officers include Naz Shah MP (chair), Lord Alderdice, Robbie Moore MP and Iqbal Mohamed MP.
This is a high-profile role, where Aziz will work closely with APPG group members to conduct industry consultations and set the agenda for discussions that shape the future of Islamic finance in the UK.
Aziz commented: "Islamic and ethical finance has a crucial role to play in shaping the future of the financial sector, and I'm excited to work with industry leaders and parliamentarians to shape policies that protect consumers, support sustainable growth and encourage innovation in Islamic and ethical finance."
