2025 sabbatical wrap up: Highlights from some of our sabbatical takers

Our sabbatical scheme gives every colleague the chance to pause and enjoy an uninterrupted break. It covers four fully paid weeks away from work and can be taken after completing five years of service.

How our people use this time is entirely up to them. Some seize the opportunity for long-awaited adventures abroad, while others choose to reconnect with family, rediscover places closer to home or simply enjoy the rare freedom to slow down. Our sabbatical scheme allows our people to turn “maybe one day” plans into reality.

In 2025, 48 of our colleagues took their sabbaticals, each using the time in a way that felt meaningful to them. From fjords to forests, cruises to staycations, here are some of their highlights…

“The sabbatical for me wasn’t about a trip of a lifetime but instead it enabled me to go on a holiday AND spend time with my family, who I would usually only see once a year for a few days. Having family abroad often means choosing between seeing them or “actually” going on holiday, so this was perfect for me.”

Kathi Aggett, Assistant Services Manager

“Norway, and especially the fjords, had been on my list for quite some time. The sabbatical was the perfect opportunity to combine seeing them with trying out a cruise experience, again something that I had been keen on doing for a while as I had never tried a cruise before.”

Kieran Grainger, Associate

“My sabbatical let me properly switch off from work and spend quality time with my husband, travelling a lot further than we usually would, and I came back feeling genuinely refreshed and motivated.”

Eloise Maysavi, Associate

“Sabbaticals are a good opportunity to take a pause, to reflect on life (and your journey to date) and to be grateful for all that you have. It allows you to travel further than usually possible and for me at least, has returned me to the firm freshened, with new perspectives and renewed motivation.”

Aziz Deen, Senior Associate

“The sabbatical benefit is a great benefit, and it has enabled me to properly switch off from work – visiting a beautiful city I may not otherwise have visited.”

Eloise Quigley-Bovingdon, Associate

“The additional time really does enable you to switch off from work, allowing you to fully relax and enjoy the time away. You don’t always have to venture very far to have an amazing time away, and I will always advocate for making the most of this benefit.”

Nikki Millings, Senior Court of Protection Executive
