About us

Our community

Our communities are at the heart of who we are and what we do.

Committed to our community

Thriving communities create a healthy environment for businesses to operate and grow. That’s why we’ve made it a priority to contribute to the communities in which we work, live and do business.

From committing to investing at least 1% of net profits annually into our responsible business programme, to giving all our people two days of paid volunteering leave each year, we’re committed to making a real difference in our communities.

Our focus areas

Fuelling ambition through social mobility

To ensure we are making a meaningful difference amid a myriad of challenges, we’ve chosen to focus our efforts on improving social mobility. It’s a cause our people care deeply about and one that emerged as a clear priority in our double materiality assessment.

By investing in programmes that spark the ambition of young people – particularly in areas of greatest need – we aim to remove barriers, open up opportunities, and support brighter futures.

Alongside building long-term, purpose-led partnerships, we also empower our people to give their time and share their expertise, helping to drive change at a local level.

Funding to drive change

The Foot Anstey Foundation plays a key role in delivering our community impact. It supports strategic charity partnerships, matches the fundraising efforts of our people, and provides small grants to local charities across our regions.

We’re committed to investing at least 1% of net profits annually into our responsible business programme – enabling us to increase the reach and value of our charitable giving.

Since its launch in 2016, and prior to our YHA partnership, the Foundation awarded grants with a strong focus on supporting families in need, tackling childhood poverty, and empowering young people to achieve their potential.

Partnering for impact

In May 2024, we launched a year-long partnership with the Youth Hostels Association of England & Wales (YHA).

We committed to donate at least £50,000 in support of their Breaks Programme. YHA Breaks provides fully and partially funded trips for disadvantaged young people and families who face significant barriers to travel and adventure. These experiences offer more than just a getaway – they provide much-needed respite, help build confidence and create space for connection and personal growth.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of our colleagues – who raised over £10,000 – we reached our target four months ahead of schedule and ultimately exceeded it.

Powering purpose with our people

Our community commitment isn’t just about funding – it’s about people, too. We take pride in living our refreshingly human and collaborative values – which is why we actively encourage our people to invest their time, energy and expertise through volunteering, fundraising and pro bono work.

Every colleague is entitled to two days of paid volunteering leave each year, which can be used to support our strategic charitable partnership or causes close to their hearts.

We’re also committed to measuring participation so we can grow engagement, celebrate impact, and ensure our work continues to evolve with purpose.
