Portia’s clients draw on her experience of acting for numerous lending institutions in connection with loans, financing of acquisitions and development projects. She might typically help lenders who require security over real estate in order to grant a loan – for example, she recently acted for an institution taking security over a hotel and office block in order to lend £14 million to an off-shore company.
Portia has also represented borrowers in complex financing arrangements, such as a recent piece of work where she helped her client transfer and give security over a portfolio of some 550 properties to a syndicate of lenders for a £140 million loan facility.
