Career & Experience
Paul heads up our intellectual property practice.
He advises clients regularly on all intellectual property issues including assisting clients in nearly all cases to either avoid intellectual property disputes or to resolve them quickly and cost-effectively. Where litigation is required, Paul is robust, determined, and creative in getting the best results for clients through the litigation process with over 20 years’ experience of conducting litigation through the High Court and the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court including securing interim injunctions, search and seizure orders, judgement and summary judgements.
Paul also helps clients navigate through the complexities of all the different intellectual property rights by understanding their strategic and business aims and then proactively advising them on how to secure and exploit intellectual property rights in order to achieve those aims. His extensive litigation and trade mark portfolio management experience enables him to advise clients on the most cost-effective steps to take in registering intellectual property rights as he understands how such rights will play out in court. He puts clients therefore in the best position to avoid and settle disputes quickly should they arise.
A recent career highlight included successfully defending a client who was faced with an interim injunction application which was brought to prevent the client from using a trade mark. Paul supported the client through the litigation process and the complex issues which arose and the case was ultimately settled on favourable terms.
In his spare time, Paul enjoys long distance running and is an athletics coach.
