Avril is a Partner in the firm’s Banking team. She has been acting on secured lending matters for borrowers and for UK, Irish and overseas banks for over 32 years.
Avril has represented banks and other financial institutions on all aspects of security documentation and banking law, including reviewing and drafting facility letters, perfection of security and refinancing, and the review and preparation of certificates of title and security reviews. She also prepares legal opinions for transactions and is experienced in dealing with lawyers in other jurisdictions relating to the completion of banking and other transactions.
Avril advises insolvency practitioners and fixed charge receivers and banks in the pre appointment and post appointment phase of enforcement.
She has particular expertise in the full spectrum of real estate finance including retail, hospitality, development land and social housing. Avril also has advised on debt for equity swaps, standstill agreements, and debt settlement arrangements.
Avril is recognised as a Leader in her field by both Legal 500 and Chambers.
Outside of work, Avril enjoys baking, with her famous shortbread recipe a closely guarded secret.
