The National Security and Investment Act 2021 gives the UK government wide ranging and retrospective powers to scrutinise and intervene in a broad range of transactions on the grounds of national security – this could include imposing certain conditions or even blocking a transaction completely.

The space and satellite sector has been specifically identified by the UK government as an area that is deemed "high risk" from a national security perspective, and so businesses transacting in the space sector should expect a higher degree of scrutiny from the government. Failure to follow the rules could lead to criminal as well as civil penalties.

Join Foot Anstey's space and satellite team on Tuesday 12 July for an update on the implications of this legislation and a discussion around the steps that businesses can and should be taking now to prepare for and navigate the Government's rules and requirements.
