Pensions update: Regulator launches “get dashboard-ready” videos for schemes

The Pensions Regulator has released a series of short films to encourage pension schemes to prepare for connection to the pensions dashboards.

On 11 April 2025, the Pensions Regulator released a series of short films to highlight the importance of the Pensions Dashboards to savers.

David Walmsley, the Pension Regulator's Director of Supervision, stated that,

"From speaking to savers, it's clear that dashboards will make a huge difference to them - not only to track their pensions but help to find lost memberships and better plan for their future."

The four short films have been launched as part of the Regulator's campaign to maintain momentum and help pension schemes prepare for connection to the dashboards ecosystem, with the first batch expected to connect this April. While 8 in 10 schemes say they are on track to connect in line with dashboards on time, 1 in 4 still hold some form of non-digital dashboard data, and many schemes hold out of date information on the value of savers’ pensions.

David Walmsley noted that "there is still a lot to do to make sure that data is accurate and digitised. It is important trustees and administrators ensure they are taking the right steps now to prepare for dashboard connection and to prepare their data."  The Pensions Regulator will therefore be engaging with schemes and ramping up its focus on the quality of their data over the coming months.

In the meantime, here are the steps scheme trustees should be taking:

  1. Start preparing data now to ensure it is accurate, accessible and digital.
  2. Download the Regulator’s checklist to stay on track with its preparations.
  3. Nominate a dashboards contact through the Regulator’s Exchange portal for communications and guidance.
  4. Work with their administrator, AVC providers, and others supporting their scheme.
  5. Keep a record of decisions and preparations while maintaining oversight at board meetings.

The short films can be viewed here.
