Career & Experience

Debbie is a Managing Associate in the Farms, Estates and Rural Land team. She focuses on rural transactional property work including sales and purchases of farms and rural land, re-organisations, first registrations, grants of easements, agricultural tenancies and commercial tenancies for rural properties.

Debbie initially qualified as a banking lawyer and spent the first half of her career working on corporate banking transactions.  She has extensive experience of secured lending work in the agricultural sector and over the last 12 years has acted for various lenders on a wide range of transactions in the sector, including a number of financing transactions involving landed estates. Debbie’s combined experience makes her perfectly placed to understand the issues and challenges relevant to lenders and borrowers in the sector and the importance of working collaboratively with all parties’ advisors.

Debbie’s recent experience includes:

  • Acting for lender on a £3m loan to finance the purchase of large farm comprising a mix of registered and unregistered titles, residential and commercial lettings and strategic land subject to option agreement and overage.
  • Acting for receivers on the complex sale of a farm involving title issues and agricultural tenancy issues.
  • Acting on the sale of a £6m farm with a complex beneficial ownership structure and various tenancy and planning issues.

Outside of work, Debbie enjoys reading, cooking and playing netball.
