This webinar was led by the Bristol Brownfield Group (comprising of Alder King, Arup and Foot Anstey) and focused on modern methods of construction (MMC).
We were due to hold this event in March, but it had to be postponed due to the pandemic. However, with much industry comment and speculation that off-site construction, technology adoption and digital transformation has seen increased interest and accelerated uptake as a result of the pandemic, as well as the perception that MMC might offer greater resilience to such unprecedented events, MMC is more topical than ever. So, we felt it important to press ahead and run this event as a webinar.
The session provided an opportunity for those interested in MMC to hear about the trends and transformations being brought about by it - including government and local government policy; the approach taken by commercial developers, home builders and insurers; and some of the legal issues arising. The session also explored the opportunities for promoting change and for adopting and perhaps even accelerating MMC following the pandemic and whether a "mind-set" change is required.
