How do you prepare for a virtual law fair?

We are sad that this year we won't get to meet lots of students IRL at University Campus Law Fairs. But that doesn’t meet we aren't excited to say a virtual hello instead!

Follow the steps we have put together below to ensure you get the most out of your University's virtual law fair:

1. Sign up in advance

Make sure you sign up to your University's virtual law fair in advance so you can make the most of the event.

2. Make sure you know how to access the fair

As the law fairs are all happening virtually on digital platforms it's important to check how you access the law fair once you've signed up! You should have an email somewhere in your inbox (don't forget to check your spam!) so make sure you read this before attending the fair.

3. Research the law firms attending

Find out which law firms are attending the fair and do some research on them in advance. Decide which firms your think you might like to train with and make sure you use the time you have at the virtual law fair to engage with them.

4. Organise one-to-one meetings

Once you have decided which law firms you want to meet use the virtual law fair platform to schedule one-to-one meetings with the representatives from those firms.

5. Prepare for your meetings

Make sure you're ready for your one-to-one meetings. This is a chance to make a good impression and find out more about what they have to offer. The best questions are those that can't be found on the website, via social media, or a brochure – show you've done your research and use the chance to find out more that just the basics!

6. Register for talks & workshops

As well as one-to-one meetings there are plenty of workshops and talks at the law fairs that are worth registering for. Make sure you look at the agenda carefully and register your place for these in advance.

7. Stay in touch!

After the event, remember to sign up to firms mailing lists to make sure you hear about upcoming events and key dates, follow their social media accounts and connect with people you met on LinkedIn.

We hope to see you at a virtual law fair soon!
