We have an exciting opportunity for a Trust Administrator to join our Succession and Tax team focusing on matters relating to wills, trusts, powers of attorney and the administration of estates of people who have passed away. This is a great opportunity to build experience working collaboratively in a team of solicitors, tax advisors, paralegals, and legal support staff to assist with all areas.

What you’ll do

The purpose of the role is to provide support in relation to the trusts that the Trust Manager is responsible for. The job holder will be responsible for the review of historic trust files and assist the Trust Manager with the day-to-day administration in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and the terms of governing instruments.

A large part of your role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Assume responsibility for trust administration and some more complex matters under supervision where required
  • Assist with the preparation of trust accounts and compliance with current regulations
  • Undertaking periodic reviews to ensure files comply with various trust regulation and governance requirements such as FATCA and CRS.
  • Preparation of the Trust Tax returns and associated tax filings.
  • Liaise with third parties and clients as appropriate, to assist with the drafting of documents and timely management of files
  • Ensure appropriate and quality service and compliance for all matters in accordance with agreed standard policies

What we’re looking for

  • Excellent clear, concise and effective written and verbal communication skills together with great attention to detail, including the capability to develop and maintain strong relationships
  • Ability to work within a “one-team” model in a modern and progressive way.  As such, an ability to collaborate and work effectively with other colleagues internally, both within the wider team and across all practice areas is essential.
  • The job holder must have an understanding of Trust Law and previous experience of preparing trust accounts and tax filings.
  • Excellent IT skills with an in depth understanding of MS Outlook and MS Word is essential. A good understanding of Excel is helpful.
  • Well organised with the ability and desire to work within a fast paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Forward thinking with a willingness to embrace changing work practices and pro-actively get involved with continuous improvement of service, products and processes.
