This brand-new opportunity arises from our ongoing expansion and offers you the chance to lead and inspire our legal cashier and accounts payable team to excellence. Working alongside the Finance Manager, this is a key role to ensure the overall provision of an effective and accurate operational finance service to the firm, ensuring adherence to SRA Accounts rules and internal processes.

What you’ll do:

In this role you’ll assist the Finance Manager in leading a team and managing all aspects of the day-to-day finance team operations within the business, ensuring the team complies with SRA Accounts Rules and produces work which is of a high standard with a “right first time” approach.  Your workday will be interesting and varied and will require you to:

  • Act as the lead for our legal cashiering and accounts payable function, whilst managing a small team.
  • Assist in provide training and guidance both within the team and the wider business on SRA Accounts Rules aligned with our internal process.
  • Problem solve and support remedy of any complex bank reconciliation or processing discrepancies in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Assist in all bank administration for our various banks and portals.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with the interim and annual audit process with our external auditors for SRA purposes.
  • Deal with annual performance reviews as well as daily/regular supervision and professional development of the team.
  • Be confident in reflecting on our current processes and make suggestions and implementing for improvement to the efficiency of the team – this would include training and adoption across the business.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven Legal Cashier experience/expertise.
  • Experience of proactively supervising/developing a finance related team.
  • Good experience of accounting, and bank procedures, along with knowledge (or skills to develop knowledge) of Solicitors Account Rules.
  • Experience planning/prioritising work to deadlines, leading others to do the same.
  • A proactive and organised approach to own work and work of others to support effective operational supervision/management of the team.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of finance systems/software and Excel spreadsheets.
  • A natural ability to produce high quality, accurate work and be a role model for others to do the same, along with a keen eye for detail.
  • A highly self-motivated individual with the ability to bring out the best in others.
  • A flexible approach and the ability to work and flourish in a positive team environment.
