Dartington Hall Trust
Dartington Hall Trust is an internationally recognised charity working to advance the arts, social justice and sustainability, operating from a 1,200 acre estate. The Trust also operates substantial retail, conferencing and accommodation businesses, the profits from which support its charitable aims. The Trust has been a client for over 10 years and we have provided a wide range of legal services to their senior management team over this period.
Our charity experts have recently completed a substantial revision to the charity's governing document, and those of its trading subsidiaries (including changes to the charity's objects) to take advantage of latest company law. We worked alongside the Trust's accountants to simplify the structure of the charity's group, helped establish a new charity to enable part of the Trust to operate independently, advised on legal issues relating to the charity financing one of its trading subsidiaries, and also on the structuring of property development proposals including the innovative, 'Abundant Life' project.
SANDS (Stillbirth And Neonatal Death Society) offers support to families through a wide range of services which include a national helpline and a UK-wide network of voluntary groups. The charity also works in partnership with health professionals to provide care and promote research to reduce the loss of babies' lives.
Our charity experts have recently completed a substantial revision to the charity's governance structure and related documents, helping them identify a more appropriate structure for the relationship between the national and branch operations.
Foot Anstey conducted the legacy administration for this charity client for a fixed term period (a secondment), following which we continued to support by advising on complex legacy administration issues as an outsourced function for the charity. The support included actively managing complex administration files on a delegated authority basis including issues regarding the sale of assets and account/tax queries, plus dealing with semi-contentious matters surrounding failed gifts and problem executors. As a result of the success achieved, Scope now outsource all legacy administration to Foot Anstey.
"Thank you for all the assistance you have given us over the past year. The service has been fantastic and a huge support to Scope. It has been a genuine pleasure working with Foot Anstey." Thomas Dixon, Legacy Manager, Scope
