Matt is a corporate partner and is head of Foot Anstey's nationally recognised private equity team which advises clients such as Livingbridge, Ardian, Business Growth Fund and Phoenix. Matt is head of our Financial Services sector, providing oversight to our Banks, Islamic Banks and Retail Financial Services sectors as well as Private Equity.
Matt trained and qualified into the private equity department of the leading City firm Travers Smith and prior to joining Foot Anstey, spent several years at Kinmont, a corporate finance boutique in London acknowledged as a leader in advising management teams. Management advisory remains a core part of Matt's practice.
Our private equity team is recognised as a specialist in advising PE backed portfolio companies. We have built a significant specialism in undertaking bolt-on and buy-and-build M&A for portfolio companies, as well as using technology enabled solutions to enhance portfolio company reporting and compliance in a consistent manner.
Matt has led a number of significant transactions since joining Foot Anstey. Recent highlights include:
- Advising Parts Alliance, an HgCapital backed company, on a series of award winning acquisitions in the car parts industry
- Advising Ardian, the global private investment company, on its legal due diligence for its acquisition of Envision Pharma Group, and subsequent bolt-on transactions into Envision
- Advising Lord Waheed Alli, Viscount William Astor and other executive management on the investment by Shamrock Capital Partners into Silvergate Media, the international media rights business, and its partnership with Wanda in relation to the Octonauts
- Advising Hong Kong based private equity fund, Sailing Capital, on its acquisition of Astrum Education Group from Sovereign Capital
