Brett Eeles is a member of the dispute resolution team. He specialises in banking and financial services litigation, insolvency litigation, and fraud and asset tracing. Brett has acted for clients on trials in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.
Brett trained in London at an international law firm, where he worked for 8 years prior to moving to Foot Anstey. As well as spending 4 months in the Beijing Office, Brett also spent one and a half years on secondment in the in-house litigation departments of two major UK banks.
Brett has experience in acting for banks in relation to complex financial litigation. In particular he was the lead associate on litigation in the high court, commercial division, concerning a commodities financing dispute worth approximately US$275m. He has also acted for banks on fraud cases involving national and international freezing injunctions, asset tracing and bankruptcy of the defendants.
Brett also has experience in acting for insolvency practitioners and has acted in various high profile applications/trials relating to the insolvency of Lehman Brothers. He has also acted for office holders in relation to claims against former directors for misfeasance and claims to set aside voidable transactions.
Brett holds a degree in Law and Mandarin Chinese.
