Top 100 law firm Foot Anstey has recruited Patrick Somers as a new partner within their expanding corporate team.
Patrick has considerable experience advising on complex corporate finance transactions for a wide range of multi-national businesses, financial institutions and major UK corporates, having previously held the role of corporate partner at global firms DLA Piper and Berwin Leighton Paisner. Throughout his career he has developed specialist sector experience in infrastructure, energy and utilities as well as extensive experience in private equity and general M&A.
He has also held senior in-house positions as GC of Transco plc and then GC of FTSE Top 30 Lattice Group plc following the demerger of Transco from BG Group plc. Transco was the owner of the entire gas pipeline network in mainland UK. Additionally, Patrick has experience as a non-executive director of a captive insurance company, an intellectual property holding company, a LNG storage business and a private engineering group.
Chris Worrell, Partner and Head of Corporate said: "Patrick is a fantastic addition to Foot Anstey's team, bringing skills and expertise that our clients, both in the UK and further afield demand. His wealth of experience gained working with complex and international businesses across our core sectors is exciting and valuable. He's a great asset and we look forward to working closely with him."
Patrick will be based jointly from the firm's Plymouth and London offices. His recruitment is the latest addition to the firm's growing corporate team; Mark Pinder, international corporate expert, joined the firm in the summer based at the firm's new Southampton office, following Joanne Rumley's appointment earlier in the year. Emily Settle was also recently promoted to corporate partner in the firm's most recent round of promotions.
