Premier national law firm, Foot Anstey LLP, is hosting an event alongside the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) at Foot Anstey's Bristol office at 4.30pm on 4 May 2017 to raise awareness on the importance of preparing for the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The emergence of new technologies, changes in business strategy and increased consumer focus have driven the need for updated regulation. The GDPR, which will take effect on 25 May 2018, introduces a number of new concepts and significantly raises the bar for every business which processes personal data. As well as the threat of increased fines, the risk of reputational impact of data breaches should be on the agenda of all business leaders, from marketing and communications teams to the boardroom itself.
Speaking at the event is Alexandra Leonidou, Senior Associate, who joined Foot Anstey from an in-house role at Warner Bros. Entertainment. Alexandra is a specialist in data protection, advising on cutting edge marketing and advertising activities, including targeted advertising practices, social media, consumer-facing promotions and competitions and the development and on-going management of websites and online clubs and loyalty programmes.
Also speaking will be Foot Anstey's Head of Media, Tony Jaffa, who is highly regarded in his field as a preeminent adviser. He has been working with major UK newspapers and magazines for over 25 years.
Brian Doidge, chair of CIM’s South West Regional Board said; “We are delighted Foot Anstey is leading this session for CIM in the South West. In today’s customer-led world, consumer data is a critical issue if you want to reach the right audience, in the right way, at the right time. CIM has just launched ‘Data Right’ campaign http://www.cim.co.uk/more/data-right/ to urge businesses and organisations to take action on the issue of responsible management of customer data and to take a pledge that they are taking data management seriously. The new GDPR legislation means getting data management right will become a legal imperative.”
