A finance specialist and Associate at top 100 law firm Foot Anstey has joined the board of the Bristol and West of England China Bureau as Director of China Affairs and Initiatives.
Bristol based Lingxi Wang is taking up the voluntary position in the organisation that works to connect the people and businesses of Bristol with the people of China and in particular Bristol’s sister city Guangzhou in Southern China.
The independent membership association supports trade, education and cultural relations between China and the West of England. In particular, the Bureau has strong links with Guangzhou Municipal and Provincial Government as well supporting the UK Chinese Students and Scholars Association.
Lingxi Wang said: “I’m really excited to be taking this up opportunity. I see my role as acting a bridge between the Bureau and the Chinese community in Bristol and the South West region. The opportunities to work with the local Chinese community in the region are substantial. The Bureau has been involved in some excellent projects that have resulted in some growing links between Bristol and Guangzhou and I’m hoping to build upon them for the benefit of local region.”
Lingxi is a member of the firm's Islamic Finance team, specialising in real estate. He advises investors [Chinese clients] based in the UK and overseas on property acquisitions. He most recently was part of the team advising Rosette Merchant Bank and Naissance Capital on the acquisition of the freehold of the House of Fraser building in Cardiff by a Jersey SPV for £37m.
