Moye Foot Anstey Prepare To Care 08

Foot Anstey's mental capacity team has hosted a record attendance seminar 'Prepare to Care', which addressed current issues facing the elderly and vulnerable.

The full-day event took place on Wednesday 10 February 2016 at Foot Anstey's Plymouth office and was headlined by journalist and television presenter, Dame Esther Rantzen who spoke on behalf of her charity, The Silver Line.

Dame Esther provided awareness of support available for our older generation including:

  • A sign-posting service to link them into the many, varied services that exist around the country
  • A befriending service to combat loneliness
  • A means of empowering those who may be suffering abuse and neglect, if appropriate to transfer them to specialist services to protect them from harm

Dame Esther spoke alongside members of the Foot Anstey mental capacity team, as well as other high-profile specialists in their field; Sally Jones, Head of Legal, Office of the Public Guardian, Detective Sergeant Ashley Jones, Trustee of the Senior Citizen Liaison Team Charity, Avon & Somerset Constabulary, and Hilary Cragg, Plymouth Dementia Action Alliance, and also part of the Prime Minister's Dementia Challenge Team.

Dame Esther said: “Thank you for making me feel so welcome and for organising such a valuable seminar.”

Rob Antrobus, partner and group team leader of the Foot Anstey clinical negligence, personal injury and mental capacity teams said: "The event delivered its objectives to set out some of the challenges facing older people in 2016 and some of the opportunities for change. Our mental capacity team are committed to ensuring elderly clients have access to the highest quality of advice and service and we were proud to have delivered a positive approach to ageing which provided support and awareness on how to live life to the fullest and overcome limitations".

Just some of the feedback from over 100 delegates included: "A new insight into topics I felt I already knew a lot about", "Topical, relevant and knowledgeable speakers" and "Very informative and helpful".

Foot Anstey would like to thank all the speakers and delegates for their time and will be making a donation to The Silver Line Charity.
