What you'll do

We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced and motivated Real Estate Associate or Senior Associate (3 + years PQE) to join our growing Asset Management team. Based from Southampton or Bristol with a blend of home and office working available to you, this is an excellent opportunity to work directly with Carol Phillips and her team on a variety of high value, high profile landlord and tenant matters.

Working with an impressive client list of national retailers and other large regional businesses, the team has developed a strong reputation for landlord and tenant work across the retail sector, providing support with acquisition and estate management strategies. We are delighted to have recently forged a new co-counsel relationship with a leading London firm, and arising from this, we are seeking an experienced lawyer to support transactional due diligence and management work (landlord side) around their client's sizeable and expanding retail property portfolio.

You will be involved in all aspects of asset management, from advising clients on acquiring, managing and disposing of real estate to helping them plan for the future and working with them to provide innovative solutions supplemented through the use of technology. We pride ourselves on working swiftly and collaboratively with our planning, construction and property disputes teams, whilst creating and deploying innovative technology solutions in partnership with our Client Innovation team.

You'll gain the support you need to develop your skills and confidence, through access to our Business Skills Academy as well as within your team day to day. We'll help you to find the right balance between independence with matters you feel confident handling, and support with complex matters where you feel it is needed. You will be encouraged to develop strong and lasting professional relationships with key decision makers within your clients' businesses, and gain the insights and expertise needed to offer hands on, practical advice to them on an ongoing basis.

What we're looking for

You will have become confident working closely with clients of varying sizes to support them with their asset management requirements, whether in the retail or another sector. Accustomed to asking good questions in order to understand and better align yourself to the needs of each client, you work with a good level of independence and enjoy responsibility and direct communication with key client contacts. In this role, you will be working seamlessly with our co-counsel partners, with a full focus on the needs of their client and the property portfolio assets they hold. You'll be personally motivated to continue developing your skills with clients, seeking to understand the commercial context of their business and gaining confidence in order to provide relevant advice at the right moment. An appreciation of the “bigger picture” for your clients to provide sound commercial advice is important.

Joining a welcoming and collegiate team, you will be a strong collaborator and keen to involve and engage with colleagues in order to ensure the client receives the best possible service, with work being done at the right level. You will naturally possess strong communication skills, have excellent attention to detail and be able to organise yourself effectively to meet deadlines as needed.
You may be an experienced Solicitor or Associate seeking to work with a wider variety of high quality clients with more exposure to complex work in order to broaden your skills. In return for your efforts, we are fully committed to working with you to unlock your potential and take your career to the next stage.
