Property Litigation Solicitor/ Associate
Exeter or BristolApply now
We are currently seeking to recruit two motivated and enthusiastic Property Litigation Solicitors or Associates (NQ – 3 years PQE) to join our growing Real Estate Disputes team. Based from Exeter or Bristol with a mix of home and office working available to you, this is an excellent opportunity to work directly with Patrick Wetherall and Edward Venmore and other members of the wider team on a variety of commercial and rural property matters.
What you'll be doing
The team deal with a wide range of contentious commercial property matters, as well as those relating to Farms, Estates & Rural Land. We will encourage you to actively engage with clients across all areas early on, supporting you to build your confidence through high quality supervision, and enabling increased independence over time. With a varied caseload and opportunities to work with senior lawyers and partners on more complex matters as needed, we will support you to identify your preferred area of practice. This ensures you are ideally positioned to further develop your expertise and understanding of the specific context, needs and challenges which impact upon your clients.
You will be involved in all aspects of property litigation, working corporate clients, landowner developers, property developers, private clients, and landed estates. We are proud of our highly collaborative culture, and you'll experience this first-hand by working closely with our planning, construction, asset management and private client teams when the opportunities arise.
We're keen to support your engagement with business development activities, as we are committed to developing strong and lasting professional relationships with our clients. By partnering with our clients, we gain the insights and expertise needed to offer relevant, practical, and timely advice on an ongoing basis. In addition to benefiting from your team's support, you will also have access to our Business Skills Academy, which has been specifically designed by us for our lawyers, to develop and refine client engagement and business development confidence and skills.
What we're looking for
With some recent experience, perhaps during training or since qualification, across a range of contentious property matters, you will be seeking to expand your skills and knowledge whilst benefiting from the support of your supervisor and wider team. You'll have a genuine interest in property disputes and be enthusiastic to learn more by initially working on a small number of files with high quality supervision. You may have had the opportunity to work on matters such as dilapidation claims, disputes relating to break notices, forfeiture and breach of lease covenants but what you haven’t experienced we will provide full training on. Your attitude and positivity to learning and application is essential to your success, and we'll support you every step of the way.
You will possess strong communication skills, have excellent attention to detail and be able to organise yourself effectively to meet deadlines as needed. You'll be personally motivated to continue developing your skills with clients, seeking to understand the wider context of their business interests and gaining confidence over time in order to provide relevant advice at the right moment.
You may be a newly or recently qualified Solicitor looking for the next step in your career, or an Associate seeking to work with a wider variety of high quality clients with more exposure to complex work in order to broaden your skills. In return for your efforts, we are fully committed to working with you to unlock your potential and take your career to the next stage.
