Apply nowWe have an opportunity on offer for an experienced Pensions Lawyer to join our growing Employment team on a part-time basis (3 to 4 days).
This is an exciting role for a Pensions Lawyer who wants to take the next step in their career, alongside the growing success of the wider team. With ambition, drive and support of the Partners, you will have the opportunity to lead and further shape the Pensions team. With an abundance of increasing and interesting workflow, this role is ideal for someone looking to further progress in this niche area of law.
Working as part of the Employment and Pensions Team, you will be supporting Corporate Team colleagues with pensions due diligence work relating to share and business acquisitions and advising on and negotiating pension warranties, indemnities, and disclosure, typically working on behalf of the purchaser. In addition, you will be providing pensions advice on standalone matters such as scheme mergers, Pensions Regulator issues, benefit changes, windings up, as well as pensions scheme documentation. You will be the Employment Team pensions lead and have the unique opportunity to develop and build the firm's pension offering, including training and supervising the current team. The department has exciting plans to further develop in the future, meaning you will have the opportunity to grow into a senior role in line with the growth of the team.
Our hybrid working model means you would be connected to the office nearest to you with the opportunity to work remotely as and when works for you, whilst benefiting from being part of a motivated and welcoming team.
What we're looking for
As an experienced Pensions Lawyer, you will be seeking to further enhance your skills and knowledge whilst working with high quality clients in a supportive team. You will have gained exposure to a variety of pensions due diligence work relating to share and business acquisitions. Accustomed to working independently with clients of differing size and profile, you can demonstrate your positive and pragmatic approach to finding the right solutions in order to meet their business needs.
We will expect you to engage and support junior lawyers and trainees in your work, delegating and supervising tasks to ensure that work is done at the right level whilst allowing you to focus on more complex matters. Teamwork is important to you and to us, and you know how to get the best from the people around you whilst maintaining high standards. You will be a strong communicator with good rapport building skills and the resilience to work under pressure by organising yourself effectively to meet deadlines as needed.
The successful applicant will be required to complete a pre-employment screening process which includes a financial integrity check and a DBS check. If you wish to discuss any issues or questions in connection with this, please do speak in confidence with a member of the Talent Acquisition Team. Contact us at recruitment.tea[email protected] and we will come back to you as soon as we can.
Our offer to you
In return for your efforts, you can expect considerable scope for personal as well as professional development. We encourage people to engage with our popular and well supported coaching and mentoring programmes, which connect you to people right across the firm and at every level. We create space for mental and physical wellbeing with our weekly Lifestyle Hour, along with 28 days annual leave, private medical insurance (eligibility applies) and a sabbatical you can take every 5 years. You can also buy holiday, managing your benefits flexibly using our sophisticated portal to configure your total reward offer according to what you value most. As part of this, you can make ongoing or one-off donations to our charitable foundation and access our CSR programme where you can engage with community-based initiatives (as a team, or individually) twice a year, to give something back where you feel it matters.
