Are you an experienced Legal Secretary in Southampton looking to progress your secretarial career with a leading UK Law firm where you will be valued and supported from day one?
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Legal Secretary (Legal Support Assistant) to join our Real Estate team in Southampton. This is a rapidly growing area of our firm, and you can expect lots of opportunity to develop your skill set, and to be involved in some interesting and challenging work. You might already have experience working in Real Estate, or you may be a Legal Secretary in another area of law but looking for a move into a new and progressive environment – either way, if you have great secretarial/support skills and a desire to work with us at Foot Anstey, we would be keen to hear from you.
This role would be ideal for someone interested in progressing their legal secretarial career, as opposed to someone looking for a step into a qualified legal career pathway.
At Foot Anstey our people, like our values, are at the very heart of our business. With a huge technology agenda on the horizon for the Foot Anstey group you will be exposed to new and creative ways of working which will enhance not only your IT ability but allow for a more client focused approach.
What you'll do
The purpose of the role will be to provide a high-level of administrative/secretarial support to the fee earners including:
- Dealing with matter set up and ensuring that risk and compliance procedures are followed.
- Dealing with SDLT return and Land Registry applications – dealing with requisitions and diarising to ensure that matters are followed up and the client is kept informed of the progress.
- Producing and amending precedent letters and House-style documents.
- Ensuring property documents are correctly archived and stored.
- Taking responsibility for travel and diary management and ensuring the fee earners have everything required for their meetings.
- Responding to queries from clients and stakeholders on behalf of your fee earners – ensuring excellent and clear communication at all times.
What we're looking for
- A proven track record of providing high quality secretarial support preferably within a legal/professional services environment.
- Strong Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
- Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working within the property sector (desirable).
- The ability to deal with highly confidential information with tact and sensitivity.
- The desire to work in a collaborative team/environment.
Successful applicants will be required to complete a pre-employment screening process which includes a financial integrity check and a DBS check. If you wish to discuss any issues or questions in connection with this, please do speak in confidence with a member of the Talent Acquisition Team. Contact us at [email protected] and we will come back to you as soon as we can.
Our offer to you
In return for your efforts, you can expect considerable scope for personal as well as professional development. We encourage people to engage with our popular and well supported coaching and mentoring programmes, which connect you to people right across the firm and at every level. We create space for mental and physical wellbeing with our weekly Lifestyle Hour, 28 days annual leave, a day off for your birthday, and a sabbatical you can take every 5 years. You can also buy holiday and manage your benefits flexibly using our sophisticated portal to configure your total reward offer according to what you value most. As part of this, you can make ongoing or one-off donations to our charitable foundation and access our CSR programme where you can engage with community-based initiatives (as a team, or individually) twice a year, to give something back where you feel it matters.
