Bristol

Apply now

We have an exciting new opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Corporate Associate or Senior Associate to join our Corporate team led by Matthew Stoate. Based from Bristol with a blend of home and office working available, this is an excellent opportunity to work with Ken Lewins and an innovative team with a focus on Entrepreneurial Private Companies (EPC).

Supporting a team of experienced Corporate lawyers across different offices, you will be working on investment rounds, growth strategies (organic or through buy and build), group restructurings and exits. Working with our clients as trusted advisors, we invest in our teams to understand the niche requirements of our clients and their businesses, to ensure that they have the support needed for each stage of their journey. Our clients are typically owner managed or family businesses where our advice and support can be instrumental to their future success, and you will look to forge strong and effective lasting relationships with your clients from the outset. You’ll be seeking a varied and high-quality workload, advising clients on exit strategies and transaction execution.

You’ll be you’re enthusiastic about business development – both for the team and the firm more widely – we will actively support and encourage you to engage in profile building and networking activities from the start. We’re passionate about partnering with clients to really understand what they want to achieve and how we can support them in this in order to build long lasting and rewarding relationships with them. We’ll encourage you to increase your commercial understanding of clients’ contexts through relevant insights and shared expertise to enable you to offer practical advice at the right time, on an ongoing basis.

From the outset, you will experience a personalised approach to achieving the right balance of independence to manage your own matters, combined with the support and supervision from senior colleagues. Tailored to suit your needs and experience to date, we will provide you with the opportunities to continue developing your skills and confidence as you to progress to more complex work.

In return for your commitment and motivation, we will offer you excellent career development opportunities, along with a combination of structured and flexible learning and development options to suit you as you progress. Through access to our Business Skills Academy, you’ll benefit from all the support you need to develop your confidence, networking and client facing skills, whilst continuing to develop your technical skills. By working together, we’ll ensure you have the right environment to flourish to help you achieve your longer-term career ambitions.

What we’re looking for

You’ll be seeking to step into a high calibre, collaborative and entrepreneurial Corporate team, where you can take your work, but not yourself, too seriously. You’ll be self-motivated, client and market focussed, with a desire to actively contribute towards the continued success of a team with a strong track record of recently delivered growth. You may be an Associate looking for the next step in your career, or a Senior Associate seeking to work with larger and more complex clients. Regardless, you will be motivated to seek to expand your skills and knowledge whilst benefiting from the support of the wider team.  With a passion for working directly with owner managed businesses, you will be keen to develop your skills with clients, seeking to understand the commercial context of their business and to gain confidence to provide the right advice at the right moment.

You’ll be accustomed to being challenged, working to tight deadlines and delivering the highest quality of service to highly valued clients. Equally you will be enthusiastic about the opportunities to utilise new and emerging technologies to better serve clients. We’ll expect you to be naturally collaborative and keen to support less experienced members of the team in your work, delegating and supervising tasks to ensure that work is done at the right level whilst allowing you to focus on more complex matters. Teamwork is important to you and to us, and you know how to get the best from the people around you whilst maintaining high standards. You will be a strong communicator with good rapport building skills and the resilience to work under pressure by organising yourself effectively to meet deadlines as needed.

Our offer to you

In return for your efforts, you can expect considerable scope for personal as well as professional development. We encourage people to engage with our popular and well supported coaching and mentoring programmes, which connect you to people right across the firm and at every level. We create space for mental and physical wellbeing with our weekly Lifestyle Hour, along with 28 days annual leave, private medical insurance (eligibility applies) and a sabbatical you can take every 5 years. You can also buy holiday, managing your benefits flexibly using our sophisticated portal to configure your total reward offer according to what you value most. As part of this, you can make ongoing or one-off donations to our charitable foundation and access our CSR programme where you can engage with community-based initiatives (as a team, or individually) twice a year, to give something back where you feel it matters.

Successful applicants will be required to complete a pre-employment screening process which includes a financial integrity check and a DBS check. If you wish to discuss any issues or questions in connection with this, or anything else, please do speak in confidence with a member of the Talent Acquisition Team: [email protected]
