Foot Anstey Junior Aquathlon A Huge Success
Competitors and organisers alike are recovering after one of the most popular Foot Anstey Aquathlon’s to date. The good weather attracted many supporters including some with their extended families to the Junior Aquathlon this weekend.
Partner at Foot Anstey Andrew Hannam said; “We were very pleased with the number of people that attended the event this year, and we would like to congratulate all the competitors. Foot Anstey believes in supporting children and young people in the region, and seeing such talent develop at an early age is fantastic; some of those competing had just come back from the World Championships in Monaco. I would also like to thank Queen’s College Taunton for the use of their grounds, and their kind invitation to come back again next year.”
11 year old competitor Ella Ellis from Plymouth came third in her age group; “I couldn’t believe how many people came along to take part. Although Biathlon is one of the fastest growing competitive sports, it’s still a surprise to see children as young as seven, and also many of my Great Britain team mates from Monaco, showing what an overall high standard the day was. I managed to stay in the lead for much of the race, but I swam one too many lengths and lost 30 seconds, but a good transition and a fast sprint at the end got me into third place. I’ll definitely come back for another go next year!”
The event will be held again next year on Sunday 26 September. Anyone who would like to take part should go to www.tauntondeanetri.co.uk/junioraquathlon to find out more and enter online.
