Chris HoarChris trained and qualified as a solicitor at international law firm, Allen Overy, and worked there in both the London and Hong Kong offices for seven years.

In 1997, he moved to the leading niche construction practice of Shadbolt where he became a partner in 1999 in the firm’s contentious construction group and latterly head of the firm’s disputes practice. Chris has experience in all types of construction and engineering dispute resolution including litigation, arbitration, statutory adjudication, disputes review boards and alternative dispute resolution methods. He has been involved in some of the largest construction disputes both domestically and internationally acting for a mixture of employers, contractors, sub-contractors and consultants.

Returning to his roots in the south west, he joined Foot Anstey as a partner in January 2009 to head up the construction disputes team. In addition to his work on contentious issues, Chris also has substantial experience in the negotiation of construction contracts (both standard form and bespoke), professional appointments, collateral warranties and procurement methods.

Chris is recognised in a number of the legal directories as a leader in the field of construction law in the south of England and nationally. He is a member of the Society of Construction Law and the Technology and Construction Solicitors Association as well as being the consultant editor of Tottel’s Construction Law Newsletter. He holds the highly regarded Master of Science degree in construction law and arbitration from King’s College London.
