Corporate Social Responsibility
Environmental issues
As a business located and operating throughout one of the most beautiful parts of the country, we are well aware of our responsibilities to do everything we can to safeguard this for future generations by reducing our carbon footprint. We of course implement all relevant environmental legislation.
Wherever possible we seek to reduce our energy consumption and our moves into new offices over recent years has enabled us to make better use of natural light through open plan lay-outs, by using modern energy efficient office machinery.
Whilst planning our new Plymouth office, we ensured it met the latest environmental standards and incorporates many energy saving devices.
Like most major businesses we recycle toner cartridges and IT equipment and we re-use paper whenever possible.
We use local suppliers wherever possible and we encourage our staff to lift share, particularly when travelling to other offices, or use public transport.
Community support
The fact that our partners and staff live and work in the south west provides added emphasis to our commitment to support the communities of the region.
This ranges from our lawyers undertaking a range of pro bono work and giving up time to support community projects to firm wide fund raising efforts and sponsorship designed to help regional activities flourish.
Foot Anstey has committed to help address a shortfall in funding within the regional branch of ChildLine to ensure that help is just a phone call away. Foot Anstey is one of a number of regional businesses that has committed to raising £1.6M in funds for the ChildLine ’Voice of the Child’ Appeal, that aims to transform ChildLine and the NSPCC Helpline to ensure they are there for all children.
To raise the much needed funds Foot Anstey will be organising many events, and each regional office in Truro, Exeter, Plymouth and Taunton will compete internally to raise the most. Events so far include ’Cycling’ between offices in Plymouth Drake Circus shopping centre, dress down days, supporting and organising a seasonal Carol Concert in Exeter, a family fun night at Crealy Adventure Park, Exeter and partner Patrick Howarth undertaking a car swap for a month.
The firm supports a number of regional charities linked to the locations in which we are based and which are Cornwall Community Foundation (Truro), Devon Air Ambulance (Exeter), Somerset Sight (Taunton) and St Luke’s Hospice (Plymouth).
Recent examples of how we have supported communities through fundraising and other initiatives in Exeter, Plymouth, Taunton and Truro include:
Taunton Deane Triathlon and Junior Aquathlon
Truro - The Royal Cornwall Musuem
Plymouth - Spirit of South West Photography Competition
Exeter - Business Games
